DiskFold does not create an account, contact a server, include analytics or ads, or collect, sell, transmit, or share personal data.
Data DiskFold uses
DiskFold processes only the file-system metadata required to build the visualization for a folder or volume you explicitly select. That metadata can include:
- File and folder names and hierarchy.
- Item type, logical size, and allocated size.
- File-system identity metadata used to avoid double counting and to keep actions attached to the item you reviewed.
- Coverage information for items macOS does not allow DiskFold to read.
DiskFold does not read file contents.
What stays on your Mac
When macOS permits it, DiskFold can save a security-scoped bookmark and minimal display metadata for a recent source. The bookmark remains inside DiskFold's App Sandbox container.
Scan trees, navigation history, search state, and Review Tray contents are held for the current session and are not persisted as a history of your disk.
Permissions
DiskFold uses App Sandbox and the macOS system file chooser. It scans only a folder or volume you select.
Full Disk Access is not required. You may choose to open its System Settings pane to improve coverage of protected locations. Without additional access, macOS permissions and file-system controls can make parts of a selected source unreadable; DiskFold reports those results as partial rather than estimating hidden data.
DiskFold never requests administrator credentials, network access, location, contacts, camera, microphone, advertising identifiers, or tracking permission.
File actions and Trash
Adding an item to Review Tray does not modify the file system. After a separate review and confirmation, eligible items are moved using the public macOS system Trash API.
DiskFold has no permanent-delete fallback. Items remain recoverable in Finder's Trash until you empty Trash yourself. Moving an item to Trash is not represented as disk space already recovered.
Your control
- You choose every scan source through macOS.
- You can stop a scan at any time and keep the readable partial result.
- You can remove saved recent-source access by deleting DiskFold's container data or uninstalling the app.
- You review file actions before confirming the system Trash operation.
